MLAs demand Bharat Ratna for “Himachal’s Architect” YS Parmar

In August 2025, the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly unanimously urged the central government to confer the Bharat Ratna on Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar, the state’s first Chief Minister, known as the “Architect of Himachal Pradesh”, for his contributions to the state.

Dr Parmar was a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in the formation of Himachal Pradesh. He laid the foundation for developing Himachal Pradesh into a model hill state.
