Ritu Negi: Kabaddi captain from Shillai

Ritu Negi, captain of India’s Kabaddi team, hails from Shillai in District Sirmaur. Under her captaincy, in November 2025, the Indian team won the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. India defeated Chinese Taipei by a score of 35-28. The winning team also had four other Himachali players.

Negi was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2024 and the Parshuram State Award in 2019. She also led the Indian team that won a gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games.

In 2019, she was the member of the team that won a gold at the 2019 South Asian Games. She was also a part of the team that won a silver medal in 2018 Asian Games.
