The tourist town of Dalhousie has a deep and historical connection with the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. In 1937, he stayed in Dalhousie for approximately seven months, where he rested due to his ill health. In his memory, a prominent intersection in Dalhousie has been named Subhash Chowk, where his statue is also installed.
In 1937, during the freedom struggle against British rule, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s health was deteriorating while he was imprisoned. Considering his worsening health, the British government released him on parole, after which he came to Dalhousie. The place where Netaji regularly drank water is still known as “Subhash Baoli” and is located on Jandri Ghat Road near Gandhi Chowk.
